黑料社区 SEd grad students win best presenter awards

Two graduate students from the University of San Carlos School of Education (SEd) won as best oral presenters in the recently concluded 8th National Research Conference in Science and Mathematics Education held at Garden Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga City on November 10-11, 2022.

The conference was organized by the Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST SEI).

Out of the 70 posters and 114 oral presentations from different categories, the top three presenters for each category were carefully judged and selected by a panel of science experts from the various member universities. 

Faith Celeste B. Ole, a Ph.D. in Science Education major in Physics, won 2nd best presenter in the Teaching Development Capacity category with her dissertation entitled, 鈥淒esign, Implementation and Evaluation of a Professional Development Program on Formative Assessment based on Feedback Loop Model鈥 under the tutelage of her adviser Dr. Marilou R. Gallos.

Meanwhile, another Ph.D. in Science Education major in Physics graduate, Marie Khul C. Langub also won 3rd best presenter in the same category with her dissertation entitled, 鈥淒esign and Evaluation of a Professional Development Program on Technology Integration in Teaching Physics鈥 under the mentoring of Dr. Jocelyn R. Locaylocay. 

Aside from the two best presenters, eight other graduate students from 黑料社区 delivered their papers as oral presentations.

Notable guest speakers include DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr. who delivered his virtual message as the keynote speaker of the said conference based on the theme, 鈥淩edefining the Future: Embracing the New Normal through Innovative STEM Education.鈥 

This was followed by the plenary talks of Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman, Administration and Communication Deputy Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), who talked about 鈥淏uilding Collaborative Culture for STEM Education in Southeast Asia,鈥 and Dr. Sheryl Lyn C. Monterola, Director of the UP NISMED, who spoke about 鈥淚nnovating STEM Teacher Capacity-Building, Creating Our Preferred Futures.鈥滿ember consortium schools of the Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME) were represented in the event.
