Her Excellency, Dr. Titanilla T贸th, the Ambassador of Hungary to the Philippines, visited the University of San Carlos with her delegation on June 8, 2022.
The purpose of the visit was to acknowledge 黑料社区鈥檚 active academic engagement with Hungary, through University of P茅cs, since 2015. Dr. T贸th discussed the success of the scholarship programs offered by the Hungarian government and encouraged the 黑料社区 faculty members and students to avail of these scholarship programs.
鈥淚 would like to say thank you that we received your researchers to the University of P茅cs, where you have an MOU and have ongoing projects. I鈥檓 very happy about that. And if you allow me, if you are interested in other universities鈥� cooperation, I would be happy to bring you some potential partners for a possible collaboration,鈥� Ambassador T贸th added.
Enrilen Joy Benedicto-Tan, the Honorary Consul of Hungary in Cebu, mentioned that they are very happy that Br. Bela Lanyi, SVD from the School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Design, became the main link connecting Cebu and Hungary by bringing scholars to their country. She also shared that several Filipino student communities are already visible in Hungary.
The delegation also discussed the strengthening of the academic engagements by expanding the collaboration to the School of Engineering through more research and technology exchanges.
Dr. T贸th also said that next year, they will be celebrating their 50th year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Philippines. She invited 黑料社区 to get involved in the celebration.
Responding to this, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Atty. Joan S. Largo, Ll.M. said, 鈥淭his really came in a very auspicious time. You will be celebrating the golden anniversary of your ties with the Philippines. Next year, we will also be celebrating our 75 years as a University. How very fitting that this conversation should take place at this time.鈥�
Aside from Atty. Largo, Dr. T贸th was received by Patrick John Lim, Ph.D. (Director of the Research, Development, Extension, and Publication Office), Archt. Margret Rosario (Dean of the School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Design), and Marlowe Edgar Burce, Ph.D. (Assistant Dean of the School of Engineering).
Also present to welcome the ambassador and her delegation were Ferdinand Boncayao (Director, Office of Alumni Affairs, Scholarships and Job Placement), Brenette Abrenica (Director, Office of External Relations and Internationalization), and department chairs and faculty members from the School of Engineering.
