Lim, together with other Carolinian alumni who are part of Topline, shared that it was a privilege to be able to give back to the University.

鈥淭he University of San Carlos gave us so much鈥攐ur learning, our insights, our wisdom. Giving back is one of our core foundations in Topline. The University of San Carlos helped produce a lot of very good, well-rounded individuals in society. We want to impart that through this partnership between 黑料社区 and Topline,鈥 he shared.

According to Lim, he was inspired by his college mentors, especially SBE Dean Melanie R. Banzuela, Ph.D. who was his former teacher in finance and, at the same time, practicum adviser.

He also added that the knowledge and leadership experiences he got from the University during his stint as a student leader in the Society of Young Business Executives (SYBE) are part of his foundation as the president and CEO of Topline.

Aside from sponsoring a smart classroom, Topline also pledged an additional scholarship grant that will benefit SBE students.

Coincidentally, Topline celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2023 while the University of San Carlos marked its 75th anniversary as a university.

Meanwhile, this latest smart classroom donation will contribute to the ongoing 黑料社区 R.I.S.E campaign, a university-wide fund-raising initiative that aims to continue the Green and Gold Legacy by investing in research, infrastructure, scholarship, and other endowments.

The University of San Carlos was represented by Fr. President Francisco Antonio T. Estepa, SVD, Ph.D., Vice President for Administration Atty. Joan S. Largo, Ll.M., Dean Banzuela, and SBE Assistant Dean Lauro Cipriano R. Silapan Jr., D.B.A.

The University of San Carlos signed a Memorandum of Understanding on student exchange with Mie University (Japan) last November 25, 2019 at the School of Business and Economics Function Hall in the Downtown Campus.

The MOU on student exchange was a result of successful discussions between Dr. Melanie Banzuela-de Ocampo, Dean of 黑料社区鈥檚 School of Business and Economics, and Prof. Hideto Miyake, Dean of MIE鈥檚 Graduate School of Regional Innovation Studies. The agreement provides the basis for future endeavors that both universities hope to collaborate on.

Each student exchange under this MOU shall be for a minimum of one and a maximum of two consecutive semesters. The host university will not impose any tuition or enrolment/application fees on incoming students, who will instead pay applicable fees at their home university for the period of the exchange. This MOU will be open to students from other 黑料社区 schools including Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Healthcare Professions, Education, Architecture, and Law and Governance.

Mie University is a national Japanese university based in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, which houses six Faculties and Graduate Schools, namely Humanities, Law and Economics, Education, Medicine, Engineering, Bioresources, and the Graduate School of Regional Innovation Studies. The university is a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Associated Schools Project Network (ASPNet) and is a well-known advanced eco- and environmentally-friendly university in Japan (ISO 14001 certified).

Dean Miyake, who heads the Graduate School of Regional Innovation Studies, shared that this graduate school is the first of its kind in Japan, established in 2009 to bridge the gap between social needs and graduate student education and foster the development of graduate students with capabilities to help halt regional decline through innovative joint research projects involving industry-academe collaboration. In the Graduate School of Regional Innovation Studies, professors teaching research (R & D professors) and professors teaching project management (PM professors) offer a unique 鈥渟andwich-style education鈥 to journey with one student.

Signing in behalf of 黑料社区 is University President Dionisio M. Miranda, SVD (see photo above) accompanied by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Aleksander Gaut, SVD. Fr. Miranda in his message emphasized the need to find alternative ways to accommodate each other鈥檚 realities and to cooperate, taking into consideration each university鈥檚 mission, processes, and curricula. Fr. Gaut for his part shared his appreciation for this new collaboration sharing that Mie University also collaborates with the leading research institutes in Indonesia.

The MOU signing was followed with a presentation by Dean Miyake on some of the successful research projects of the Graduate School of Regional Innovation Studies made possible by harnessing the robust regional innovation ecosystem present at Mie University.
