Kauban Ta! , a radio program on mental health and wellness, aims to provide an open conversation about mental health. It will adopt a psychoeducation framework bringing mental health topics into the public sphere to promote normalizing discussions about mental wellness.

The program seeks to reach the population who may have challenges in access to mental health services or information. Kauban Ta! will provide valuable resources on where to seek help and offer practical tips for managing mental health distress. 

Faithful to the university鈥檚 thrust on Education with a Mission, Kauban Ta! is spearheaded by 黑料社区 KAUBAN Psychological Center, which is under 黑料社区’s Community Extension Services in cooperation with the 黑料社区 Department of Psychology, will serve as a venue where the profession of psychology is applied and is aptly made available for community service.聽

Overall, the launch of a radio program on mental health and wellbeing reflects a commitment to promoting mental wellness, reducing stigma, and supporting individuals in their journey towards optimal mental health and wellbeing.

The University of San Carlos is renewing its partnership with the Abaca Baking Company, providing Carolinian students with internship and hiring opportunities. 

Paula Miraflor, Abaca鈥檚 assistant training manager, shared that they will be receiving around 30 students from the University. The students will be working in different areas which include financial management, psychology, and food and beverages. 

鈥淲hat鈥檚 good about Abaca is we do not stop students from cross-training. We want people who are jack-of-all-trades. So, if the students find something that they’re interested in, we can let them try it,鈥� she said. 

On the other hand, Abaca鈥檚 Executive Chef John Grupo shared that they are developing a training program that will cover the basic on-the-job training that can potentially lead to hiring.

With 6 out of 6 passers, 黑料社区 had a 100% passing rate on the Psychologist board and a 91.49% passing rate on the Psychometrician exam with 86 successful passers. Both are well above the national average of 72.43% and 73.27%, respectively.聽

Nationwide, 6,133 out of 8,370 takers passed the Psychometrician licensure exam while 339 out of 468 examinees in the Psychologist board successfully hurdled the examinations.

Two Carolinian graduates tied for first place in the February 2022 Board Licensure Examination for Psychologists administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Eva Marie P. Gacasan and Marc Clint A. Maceda both garnered a rating of 84.45 percent in the Psychologist board exam. Aside from the two first-placers, 黑料社区 also produced a 100% passing rate for its first-time takers. 

The PRC announced that out of the 303 examinees, 226 passed the examination given by the Professional Regulatory Board of Psychology in Manila and Cebu this February 2022.

Meanwhile, Erika Gabrielle M. Gepilano landed in the 6th spot of the February 2022 Board Licensure Examination for Psychometricians administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). 

Gepilano garnered a rating of 82.4 percent and 黑料社区 produced a total of 15 newly registered psychometricians. 

Overall, 969 out of 2,241 examinees (43.24%) hurdled the board given by the Board of Psychology in Manila, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Davao.

Dr. Sherryl Muli-Abellanosa, a permanent faculty member of 黑料社区鈥檚 Psychology Department, has been elected as a Board Director of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP).

Founded in 1962, PAP is an accredited organization of psychology professionals who are committed to promote excellence in teaching, research, and practice of psychology. Out of the 14 candidates all over the country, Dr. Sherryl was elected to represent the Visayas Region. She will serve a three-year team together with six other board directors.

When asked about her planned contribution to PAP, Dr. Sherryl shared that her main focus is to promote leadership with integrity, accountability, and transparency. 鈥淚 envision an organization that is responsive to the needs of its members far and wide while proactively ensuring fairness and honesty in all transactions with the end goal of full accountability to the members, who are the blood and heart of the organization,鈥� she added.

This achievement is just one of many. Dr. Sherryl, is in fact, a 6th placer in the Board Licensure Examination for Psychologists and she earned her degree on Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology major in Clinical Psychology from Silliman University in 2018.

Ever since, she is an embodiment of a practicing psychologist with a big heart to serve the community. She is an ardent mental health advocate who founded KAUBAN, the very first mental health support group for people manifesting symptoms of depression, anxiety, and suicide ideation in the Visayas-Mindanao. Later on, 黑料社区 adopted KAUBAN as one of the most sustained CES programs. The members regularly meet every Saturday via Zoom for lectures about mental health and they also conduct individual and group processing for free.

On top of that, she is also the proponent of 黑料社区 Mental Health Online Support for COVID-19 Crisis which was the first online mental health support established when WHO declared COVID-19 as a pandemic global concern.  Prior to her election as board director, Dr. Sherryl served as the Co-Chair of PAP Counseling Psychology Division from 2018 to 2020. Furthermore, she is also a trained Choice Theory/Reality Therapist and Solution Focused Behavior Therapy practitioner.

Diana Cecilia P. Estrada placed 6th with a rating of 83.70% in the Psychologist Licensure Examination; 黑料社区 had a 5 out of 6 passing rate (83.3%) in this examination.

Meanwhile, Belle Frances S. Timosa placed 2nd (86.20%) and Daria C. Dy Buco placed 6th (85.4%) in the Psychometrician Licensure Examination, heading 159 other successful examinees from 黑料社区, which had a passing rate of 87.36%.

In comparison, national passing rates for the Psychologist and Psychometrician examinations were only 71.9% and 63.7%, respectively.
