K鈥橦anz Cakes and Pastries, owned by Jessieryl Pitogo of Barangay Calawisan, Lapu-Lapu City, bested other finalists and was named national winner in the recently concluded Kabuhayan Awards 2018: Search for Best Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Assisted Livelihood Projects, Individual Category.

Pitogo initially received in 2011 financial assistance worth PHP10,000 from the DOLE through the 黑料社区 Kapamilya Negosyo Na (黑料社区 KNN, Inc.). As a regional winner, Pitogo received PHP30,000 and another PHP50,000 when she was named national winner.

黑料社区 KNN is the longest running, multi-awarded Community Extension flagship program of the School of Business and Economics (SBE) and is now on its 13th year of assisting micro and small enterprises develop their businesses. 黑料社区 KNN is also an accredited co-partner of the DOLE in the implementation of its Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

The DOLE Kabuhayan annual awards aim to recognize the relentless efforts and perseverance of beneficiaries in successfully managing and sustaining their livelihood undertakings.

The 黑料社区 Department of Business Administration opened the Student Enterprise Center last Thursday, December 7, 2017, in front of the Carolinian Cafe at the ground floor of the Fr. Joseph Watzlawik Building, Downtown Campus along Pelaez St., Cebu City.

The 黑料社区 Student Enterprise Center is a campus-based business incubation designed to nurture enterprises of students enrolled in the B.S. Entrepreneurship program who will run their 鈥渂usinesses鈥� for two years.

Majority of the businesses are food enterprises, namely Ato-a Snacks, Bakeology鈥擟akes and Pastries, Creamily Spreads, Fruble Ice Cream, Hao Chi Foods, Kopuklu, Kubu Cuisine, Mongo Avenue, Spud鈥擡verything Potato, MVM Company (danggit), NutriCenter, SnackLab, and Zato鈥擯otato Crust Pizza.

The other enterprises are focused on products and services, namely: Affinity Souvenir, Bucket List, Carry On, Comfies, Daijon Creations, Good Mourning, Raffabac Design, and Serra Photography.

The Enterprise Center aims to provide technical support to students during the early stages of business development. Each enterprise is assigned a faculty adviser, as well as mentors from industry and consultants during the implementation. The facilities are fully air-conditioned, and have light and water meters to monitor usage. A business review will be conducted every semester to monitor and evaluate the growth of the enterprises.

Students from the B.S. Business Administration Operations Management cluster assist in monitoring the attendance and strict adherence to office hours, practice of 5S workplace organizational and housekeeping methodology as part of continuous improvement, and proper disposal of waste.

The 黑料社区 Department of Business Administration held its 16th Entrepreneurship Fair on September 14芒鈧��17, 2017 at the Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu.

Twenty-one student enterprises, along with partner entrepreneurs from the Kapamilya Negosyo Na project of the School of Business and Economics alumni association showcased their products during the fair.

Entrepreneurship majors of the University are required to set up their own businesses and run these for two-and-a-half semesters as part of their program requirement. Many of these students continue their businesses after graduation.

The Entrepreneurship Fair is an annual event that showcases the B.S. Entrepreneurship program which is recognized as a Commission on Higher Education Center of Excellence (CHED COE).
